Job Description
The Winery Steward will be primarily responsible for collecting, washing, distributing, and storing all dishes, glasses, flatware, pots, pans, and other cooking utensils, and will maintain all aspects of kitchen sanitation. The success of this position will be measured by guest satisfaction, cleanliness, organization, product quality, consistency, and timeliness of service.
The starting pay range for this position begins at $16.32/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
Reserve:
A flexible, on-call position scheduled based on business needs and operational volume. Reserve employees typically work anywhere from 40-999 hours per year, depending on demand.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Wash and store all dishes, glassware, and silverware properly.
2. Clean sink, dishwasher, and kitchen area after every shift.
3. Consistently keep Tasting Room Counters stocked with clean glasses and clear of dirty glasses.
4. Sweep and mop floors daily.
5. Help maintain the dish-washing machine.
6. Empty all garbage and clean cans at the end of each shift.
7. Assist in daily cleaning of all food and beverage areas as instructed, including walls, lights, equipment, receiving area, sample kitchen, etc.
8. Assist others in receiving and storing items.
9. Break down cardboard when necessary.
10. Ensure the work area is clean at all times.
11. To maintain a clean working environment where sanitation, health, and safety standards are never compromised.
12. To conduct one’s self in accordance with the goals, culture, service standards, and fundamental values of Biltmore.
13. Participate in the department recycling program.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Provide general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company as required.

Qualifications:
1. Previous related food and beverage experience preferred. The ideal candidate will have held the same or a similar position in a full-service restaurant.
2. Strong organizational and time management skills.
3. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, guest service environment.
4. Ability to prioritize and work under a deadline.
5. Excellent attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
1. Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent bending, lifting, and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
2. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree; will be standing the entire shift, mainly in the dish area.
3. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
4. The employee may work in a restaurant or kitchen environment with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
5. Will enter and exit coolers/freezers throughout the work shift.
6. Will be exposed to chemicals during the work shift, such as cleaning liquids, dish detergent, and others.
7. Must be able to work in a fast-paced & loud environment.
