GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is paraprofessional recreational work in planning and organizing recreation program(s).
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as liaison between schools in area and volunteers and recreation facility users as well as liaison between Recreation & Culture Director and volunteers.
Assists with registration for various sports.
Mandatory attendance at all organizations’ meetings for the City’s programs concerns.
Monitors the safety of all youth and adults in the programs and safety of facilities used.
Checks to determine sports facilities and equipment are maintained and protected. Submits work orders as required for repair of facilities.
Assists with concessions.
Monitors monthly treasurer’s report from volunteer groups.
Assists volunteer groups in: scheduling games, booster clubs, uniforms, equipment, selection of teams, and obtaining donations. Works with volunteers to secure scholarship money from the community or county for eligible families and children.
Monitors participation of children in and out of the City.
Maintains a copy of schedules, rosters of players, parents’ addresses, phone numbers, insurance coverage, etc.
Maintains a file on birth certificates and daily activity reports.
Promotes recruitment of volunteers.
Works with the County Director ensuring receipt of County funds for Alachua youth organization.
Assists in scheduling fields.
Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
Minimum three (3) years recreation experience working with youth.
Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Ability to plan, organize and carry out daily and special programs.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Works inside and outside possibly in inclement conditions for limited periods of time.
Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying (20-45 pounds).
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to walk on indoor and outdoor terrain.
