Parks and Recreation Crewmember Town of Cramerton Parks and Recreation Cramerton, NC 28032 PARKS
AND RECREATION CREWMEMBER GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
: General maintenance of all recreational facilities and equipment; opens and closes recreational facilities and performs related duties as required. Weekend work is required. Job schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm. Work is performed under the direction of the Recreation Facility and Grounds Supervisor.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF POSITION CLASS
: The employee in this class is responsible for the general maintenance and inspection of all recreational facilities and grounds. The employee functions under the direction of the Recreation Facility and Grounds Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operates a variety of Town vehicles including but not limited to dump truck, skid steer, tractors, and mowers. Operates a variety of small machinery including but not limited to chainsaw, hedge trimmers, grass trimmers, and leaf blowers. Opens and closes recreational facilities. Performs a variety of groundskeeping, maintenance, and landscaping duties. Keeps recreational grounds clean, cut, and trimmed. Cleans and performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Performs routine maintenance on Town facilities as necessary. Removes and installs recreation equipment. Ensures athletic fields are prepared and ready for games. Attends all safety training offered by the Town. Assists with Special Events as needed. Assists with Camps as needed. Installs seasonal holiday decorations. Assists Public Works Department as needed and assigned by Parks and Recreation Director. Performs other duties as assigned by the Park Maintenance Supervisor and the Parks and Recreation Director.
JOB RELATED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS
: This position involves heavy work requiring the employee to exert in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally and less force frequently to move objects. Physical activity related to this position may include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Sufficient visual acuity is required to use measurement devices, assemble equipment at distances close to the eye, and visually inspect machine parts to detect small defects. An employee in this position will be exposed to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions throughout the year including working near functioning machinery. An employee in this position could be “reasonably anticipated” as a result of performing their job duties to face contact with blood and other potentially infectious materials.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
: Some knowledge of all phases of community recreation and facility and grounds maintenance. Some knowledge of the care and maintenance of recreation equipment. Comprehensive knowledge of the functions of a community recreation center. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with other employees and to promote and maintain high morale and enthusiasm; good judgment.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
: High school graduate, with a minimum of one year experience in a recreational setting, with experience in field and equipment maintenance. Previous ground and facility maintenance is required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
: Advanced First Aid and CPR; Grounds Maintenance Certificate; Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
