Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Performs responsible semiskilled custodial and building maintenance work in the care of cleaning of the Recreation Department. Performs work in a variety of Parks and Recreation maintenance and construction tasks; does related work as required. Mows and maintains athletic fields. Repairs and installs playground and park equipment. Painting and repairs equipment, etc. Performs work of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature when necessary. Operates light equipment when necessary. Maintains appearance of Recreation grounds and facilities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of citizens or employees of the City of Lebanon.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

DRIVER’S LICENSE

Valid TN Driver’s License with clear motor vehicle records.

EDUCATION

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3 months experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or craw; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
