Job Description The AquaticsDirector supports the Y’s mission of strengthening communitythrough youth development, healthy living, and socialresponsibility. This role manages aquatic inquiries, organizes safeswim programs, Hurricanes Competitive Youth Swim Team and overseesswim lessons for all ages. Responsibilities include staff hiring,supervision, budget management, scheduling, and training. Thedirector ensures a positive, safe environment, promoting memberwellness and engagement while adhering to YMCA policies.

Additionally, they develop new procedures to achieve strategicgoals. Qualifications Associates degree in Health Science,Recreation, or related field Minimum age of 21. Current NationalLifeguarding Certification or completion within 60 days of hire.

Current WSI Certification or completion within 60 days of hire.

Current CPO Certification or completion within 180 days of hire. 2years of experience in Aquatics programming. Proficiency inMicrosoft Office Products and computer skills. Completion of relevant YMCA aquatics training andtrainer certifications. 5 years of experience in Aquaticsprogramming. Previous supervisory experience required. Ability todirect assigned operations, including volunteer development,supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets,marketing and public relations, and program development Excellentinterpersonal communication and computer skills Ability to relateeffectively to diverse groups of people from all social andeconomic segments of the community Ability to establish andmaintain collaborations with community organizations. Supervisionof Lifeguards and Swim Instructors Membership Retention &Satisfaction Aquatics Program Oversight Billing & Collections SwimTeam Management Training CPR, Lifeguarding, and Babysitting CoursesPool Birthday Parties Tracking Safety Certifications EssentialFunctions Implement and manage existing high-quality aquaticprograms that align with community needs and uphold YMCA standardsof quality, safety, and care. Expand programs as per strategicplans. Supervise aquatics staff, handling recruitment, hiring,training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Motivate staffto achieve department and organizational goals. Ensures records ofstaff certifications are current and complete. Assist in thedevelopment and management of the department budget. Complete allrequired department safety and quality documentation and drills onrequired timelines. Be an active participant of the SafetyCommittee. Conduct internal and external safety training forlifeguards, swim instructors, staff and community, ensuringcertifications are up-to-date. Maintain program statistics toassess effectiveness and participation levels. Schedule poolfacilities including Pool Birthday Parties Assist in ensuring poolscomply with health and safety standards, maintaining cleanliness,appropriate temperature, chemical balance, and conducting timelywater testing and maintenance. Demonstrate strongrelationship-building skills in all interactions, promptlyaddressing member and community inquiries and complaints to enhancecustomer satisfaction. Provide coverage for swimming lessons orlifeguard shifts as needed, ensuring proper pool coverage andoffering support as required. Assists in the marketing anddistribution of program information. Support YMCA fundraisingactivities and special events.
