The Ocean Community YMCA in beautiful Southern Rhode Island islooking for an Aquatics Director for our Westerly-Pawcatuck Branch.

If you answered yes to any of thesethis position is for you. The Aquatics Director position at OceanCommunity YMCA is an excellent way to be a part of helping yourcommunity. Situated on the Southern RI shoreline makes water safetyvery important for everyone, along with managing the swim team andproviding adult swim exercise classes, you are in a spot to helpall. This position will oversee the operation of the AquaticsDepartment, which includes promoting and delivering qualityprograms, hiring and supervision of staff, budgetdevelopment/management, and maintaining a clean and safe poolenvironment. In addition, the Aquatics Director has overallmanagement of the Swim Team and Swim Team parent organization.

Qualifications Qualifications for this position include a BachelorsDegree with at least 3 years experience in the aquatics field andin supervision or 7 years experience with increasingresponsibilities. Excellent communication and public relationsskills. Maintaining Lifeguard and POOL certifications required.

Essential Functions Creates innovative programs, manages currentprograms, and complies with YMCA standards and safety procedures.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and trainingemployees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing andapproving timesheets; appraising performance; and discipliningemployees; monitoring and updating all required staffcertifications; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Directly supervises part-time and non-exempt employees andvolunteers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordancewith the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Develops,manages and monitors aquatics department budgets. Assesses andrecommends budgeting for facility and equipment needs. Assists involunteer opportunities as assigned. Develops, produces anddisseminates appropriate program information in order to promoteaquatic programs to the public and to keep members current. Ensuresthat program areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in anorderly and safe manner. Provides data and reports on assignedprograms in support of the planning process of the branch andAssociation. Represents the branch at various meetings related tothe position. Maintain physical upkeep of the pool deck andvacuuming of the pool. Maintain current CPR/AED, First Aid,Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, POOL and allother required certifications. Play an active leadership role inthe annual support campaign and assist leadership in the successfulcompletion of the campaign and other related special events andactivities. Other duties as assigned. Cause-Driven LeadershipCompetencies Communication & Influence Critical Thinking & DecisionMaking Emotional Maturity Required Certifications CPR, AED, FirstAid, Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, POOL, andother certfications as needed.
