ROLE OF POSITION

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide professional staffing and daily management of a Fitness Center located in Cayce, South Carolina. The position ensures the delivery of effective, efficient, and consistent services in alignment with established quality standards, specifications, policies, and procedures. Additionally, the role involves administering health and fitness programs, fostering a supportive and engaging environment, and achieving targeted membership growth and program participation goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary contact for fitness facility operations and ensure all services are delivered according to service agreements.
  • Provide and manage professional staffing coverage for the fitness center(s) during hours of operation (Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM) at the primary location in Cayce, South Carolina.
  • Oversee new member onboarding, including health screenings, equipment orientations, and fitness assessments with personalized program development.
  • Create and deliver general nutrition and weight management programming.
  • Plan and implement marketing and promotional strategies to drive membership growth and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a diverse group exercise schedule; teach a minimum of 7 onsite or live-streamed fitness classes weekly with energy, motivation, and safety.
  • Participate in and coordinate class recording sessions.
  • Organize incentive programs, fitness challenges, demonstrations, and special events to enhance member engagement.
  • Implement retention initiatives to maintain member satisfaction and drive participation across all services.
  • Build strong relationships with the client and key personnel to support ongoing success and growth of the fitness facility.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the facility and fitness equipment, coordinating maintenance contracts as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of facility usage, member participation, and program engagement.
  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on utilization, operations, and member services.
  • Manage budgets responsibly, ensuring alignment with financial goals and operational needs.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with client representatives to provide updates, review initiatives, and address any concerns.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by responding quickly to member and client requests, offering proactive solutions, and supporting overall business retention.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Competencies/Expectations § Proactively maintain expertise in fitness, wellness programs, industry trends, and compliance standards. § Foster strong, consistent communication with staff, members, clients, and external partners to ensure seamless operations. § Deliver high-quality optional fitness and wellness services upon request, supporting both members and non-members. § Lead one-on-one and small group personal training sessions, when outlined in the service agreement. § Contribute to the creation and execution of long-term strategic plans to enhance programs and services. § Actively collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in special projects and initiatives to drive overall success. Supervisory Duties/Responsibility § Provide direct supervision of full-time and part-time fitness center staff and contractors, overseeing performance management, professional development, training, personnel documentation, evaluations, and staffing decisions including hiring and termination. § Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure full-service coverage while accommodating time-off requests in compliance with service agreements. § Oversee vendor relationships and contracts, including equipment maintenance, towel services, cleaning services and other operational support services. QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience and Certifications § Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related health field; Master’s degree preferred. § 3-5 years of experience in managing or working within a corporate or commercial fitness center, with a focus on membership services and program delivery. § Strong knowledge in exercise physiology, fitness assessments, exercise prescription, and nutrition. § Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to quickly learn fitness center management, communication, and marketing software. § ACSM Certified (CPT, HFS) or equivalent certification preferred. Personal training experience is a plus. § Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability § Understanding of membership engagement, retention strategies, and program development for fitness and wellness initiatives. § Preferred experience leading or supporting a new fitness facility launch or startup. § Demonstrated skills in program development, including fitness assessments, personalized training plans, and wellness initiatives. § Strong customer service skills with a proactive approach to resolving member concerns and enhancing the member experience. § Excellent organization, project management and time management skills with ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently to carry out work and assigned tasks. § Superior written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively communicate to and collaborate with diverse audiences. § Strong interpersonal communication, leadership, group facilitation and customer service skills, including the ability to motivate others.

WORKING CONDITIONS

§ The work environment typically maintains a moderate to quiet noise level. § The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear, with frequent standing. The role involves physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, bending, and squatting as part of daily responsibilities. § Moderate to intense physical activity is required to lead group fitness classes effectively, including demonstrating equipment. This may involve frequent lifting or moving up to 20 pounds, with occasional lifting or moving of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
