The Weekend Supervisor•Athletics Lead is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of Samford University’s athletic and recreational facilities during weekend operations. This leadership role ensures that all cleaning staff are properly deployed, trained, and equipped to meet service expectations for game days, special events, and daily operations. The position requires strong attention to detail, scheduling awareness, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Leadership:

Lead and supervise weekend cleaning staff assigned to athletics and recreational facilities. Provide on-site direction, task delegation, and quality control. Train new staff on protocols, safety procedures, and client expectations. Act as the point of contact for weekend operations and communicate updates to the Athletics Manager.

Facility Maintenance:

Ensure timely and thorough cleaning of locker rooms, gyms, courts, restrooms, and common areas. Monitor cleaning supply levels and submit restock requests as needed. Conduct pre•and post-event inspections to ensure facilities meet quality standards.

Event Coordination:

Monitor athletic event schedules and coordinate cleaning coverage before, during, and after events. Adjust staffing and routines to align with high-traffic times, including game days and special events.

Reporting & Communication:

Document weekend activity, staff attendance, and any issues requiring follow-up. Report maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel. Maintain open communication with university staff, event coordinators, and internal leadership.

Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year of experience in commercial cleaning; supervisory experience preferred. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Ability to read and adjust to event schedules and staffing needs. Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct. Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required by the schedule.

Working Conditions:

Fast-paced, high-traffic athletic facilities. Physically active role requiring walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Exposure to cleaning agents and supplies (PPE provided).
