Recreation Camp Leader – PT 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars Saint Cloud, FL Description The City of St. Cloud is seeking a motivated and creative individual to join our team as a Recreation Camp Leader . In this role, you’ll plan, direct, and coordinate a wide variety of recreation activities for youth camp programs, adapting activities to fit available facilities and the interests of participants. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Conducts registration. Accounts for funds collected. Offers a schedule of diversified programs of activities including competitive and non-competitive recreation activities. (Activities include: sports, games, arts and crafts, songs, drama, storytelling, trips and tours, etc.) Researches, recommends, purchases, receives and issues recreation equipment and is responsible for its use and maintenance. Inspects facilities and equipment, area, and issues reports concerning maintenance needs. Assists with interviews and recommends staff, trains counselors and volunteers. Assists with monitoring work hours reported and payroll time sheets. Assists with the direction of the camp staff daily. Assists with enforcing camp rules and is responsible for camper’s safe behavior and over all camp safety. Completes incident and accident reports, assists with contacting parents and informing them of any disciplinary issues. Assists with camp set-up and breakdown. Complies with department policies. Maintains camper’s daily attendance and activity reports and submits them to the office. Attends camp staff meetings Assists with monitoring and directing summer camp. Deals with minor parental issue. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) summer of camp recreation leadership experience or other recreation/physical education. Current First Aid Certification. Current CPR Certification.

Skills working with young people and securing their adherence to rules, regulations and safe work practices.

Reasoning:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in writing, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
