Open to all curious learners, the goal of the camp is to cultivate interest and excitement around subjects related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through interactive, hands-on activities. Tech Camp runs for 3 weeks in July on the University of New Hampshire Durham campus. Tech Camp Project Leaders direct and implement the curriculum of the projects within the camp in conjunction with a project co-leader. These positions will be held by people with content knowledge related to the subject matter that they are teaching. They will co-lead the development and design of hands-on activities, with an experienced teacher, for an inquiry-based project with campers. They will also co-coordinate space/time/supplies, and budget for the project; co-design with their project co-leader on all aspects of development of the project; co-implement the project with the campers; ensure health and safety of campers; exhibit a respectful, positive attitude to all participants/staff, and help evaluate the project’s success. This person also serves as the primary point of contact for the Tech Camp leadership team in all matters related to their project. Duties/Responsibilities Curriculum Design and Implementation – 90%
Co-design hands-on activities for an inquiry-based project with campers
Coordinate space, time, supplies, and budget for the project
Communicate project needs to the Tech Camp leadership team before camp begins
Remain in regular contact with the Tech Camp leadership team during the planning phase leading up to camp and remain attentive to email communications regarding camp
Implement the project with the campers during the designed week(s) at camp
Ensure project activities meet all health and safety requirements imposed by UNH Tech Camp and UNH Youth Programs
Evaluate the success of the project at the end and note improvements to be made for future implementation
Camper Experience & Safety – 10%
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom where campers feel safe, valued, and empowered to explore new experiences
Address camper concerns, accidents, and behavior issues in a proactive and constructive manner, including bringing incidents to the Tech Camp manager for prompt resolution in compliance with UNH Youth Programs protocols for behavior management and incident reporting
Serve as an exemplary role model to campers and staff in attitude and respectful behavior
Serve as a positive ambassador to the camp and university when interacting with families or other community members who may be visiting the camp
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in education, a STEM field, recreation management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) OR be actively pursuing an advanced degree in a STEM field
Strong leadership skills with the ability to shift priorities quickly and maintain a positive mindset in the face of challenges
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a summer camp or similar youth-focused program
Experience working with diverse populations, including children with special needs or from different cultural backgrounds.

A successful background check is required
Must attend a required staff training half-day hosted by the Tech Camp Leadership team in July
