POSITION OVERVIEW
: Under the direction and daily supervision of the Program Director, the Camp Group Leader will be responsible for supervising, engaging and ensuring the well-being of campers in a safe and fun environment, this role involves leading activities, fostering teamwork, and creating a positive experience for campers.
REQUIREMENTS
: Must have a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 of age. Must possess a minimum of one-year experience and or training in, education, elementary or middle school youth, recreation and/or any other youth services field. Must have strong classroom management skills. Ability to develop lesson plans. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have adaptability in the workplace; including but not limited to working remotely providing youth services and support through virtual platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
: Associates Degree. 2 years of relevant experience. Expertise in a special area (STEM, Recreation, Art, Music, Dance, Chess, Cooking, etc.)
Responsibilities :
Supervision and Safety:
Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers in their group assigned. Maintain appropriate camper staff ratios at all times. Administer first aid as needed and follow emergency procedures. Provide group and/or individual assistance to youth in their learning and engagement as well as supporting their development.
Program & Activity Leadership:
Research, develop and execute fun and engaging lesson plans (activities) to create opportunities for discovery, learning, adventure and recreation. Participate in indoor and outdoor activities assisting with daily set-up, daily clean up, and overall procedures. Use behavior management strategies to address misbehaviors effectively and promptly communicate behavior incidents with supervisors and other necessary staff and provide guidance and behavior modification as needed. Complete necessary reports to track student progress and participation; daily attendance, logs, pick-up sign-in sheets, etc. Responsible for area materials, room organization and reporting misused/damaged materials to the supervisor. Professionally communicate with all staff, parents, children and community members in a polite and respectful manner. Uphold program policies and procedures while promoting an inclusive, welcoming and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all staff, participants and stakeholders. Actively participate in mandatory professional development training and meetings. Perform other related duties as assigned
HOURS :
Sample schedule July 7, 2025- August 22, 2025. Must be available to start June 23rd for week long orientation.
Summer Camp:
M-F 8am – 6pm. (5-8 hr. shifts) Subject to change.
THIS IS AN IN PERSON POSITION. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT S
The position requires constant communication with participants and co-workers; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations, frequent operation of a computer and other technology related equipment.
