The Hospitality & Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering a spirit of connection and belonging across all ages and stages of life. This intergenerational position leads the church in creating warm, welcoming, and inclusive spaces for both longtime members and new guests—helping all feel at home and find their place within the life of the church.
Primary Responsibilities:
Hospitality and First Impressions Cultivate a culture of radical hospitality throughout the church, rooted in United Methodist values of grace and inclusivity. Lead and train volunteer teams (greeters, ushers, welcome center hosts, coffee stations, parking lot greeters, etc.) to offer a warm and intentional welcome each Sunday and at special events. Oversee systems for guest follow-up and connection (e.g., F1GO, Volunteer Accelerator, etc.), including visitor communications, newcomer gatherings, and pathways into church involvement. Ensure welcoming and accessible environments throughout the church campus, including signage, hospitality areas, and gathering spaces. Community Life & Intergenerational Fellowship Design and coordinate church-wide fellowship opportunities that bring together all generations—such as meals, seasonal celebrations, and special events. Partner with ministry leaders (children, youth, adults, seniors) to create shared spaces and opportunities for cross-generational connection. Support ministry needs for hospitality during events like baptisms, funerals, weddings, and church conferences. Relationship-Building and Connection Pathways Develop intentional opportunities for new and existing members to build relationships and find meaningful community (e.g., newcomer dinners, small group mixers, volunteer socials). Collaborate with pastors and ministry teams to ensure all church events reflect the church’s mission of radical welcome and spiritual growth. Help members and guests identify the next steps in their faith journey through community involvement, service, and connection. Leadership & Administration Serve as the Staff Lead for the Engagement Committee, requiring proactive and detailed recruiting, leading, and guiding through regular meetings. Recruit, train, and support a team of dedicated volunteers to help carry out hospitality and community life ministries. Manage worship attendance in the church database and Conference reporting, in partnership with volunteers. Maintain an annual calendar of fellowship events in coordination with other ministry areas. Monitor and manage event and hospitality budgets, coordinate logistics, and ensure events run smoothly. Communicate effectively with staff and congregation through digital and print channels to promote events and initiatives. Collaboration Collaborate closely with Trinity’s Ministries team to create whole-church intergenerational ministry opportunities. Attend weekly staff meetings, monthly ministry meetings, scheduled Church Council meetings, and other meetings as needed to communicate engagement and hospitality needs to others on staff and in leadership. Participate in all training required by the Employee Policy Manual (e.g. Safe Sanctuary).
Qualifications and Experience:
A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with the mission and values of The United Methodist Church. A heart for intergenerational ministry and creating spaces where all feel seen, known, and valued. Excellent relational, organizational, and communication skills. Experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, or hospitality ministry. Ability to lead and empower volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Familiarity with church database systems and digital tools (or willingness to learn). Ability to pass a background check screening.
