The Le Meridien Sheraton Charlotte Hotel is currently seeking a dynamic, motivated, and service-oriented individual for the position of Executive Meetings Manager to join our team at our StepStone Hospitality managed hotel. The Le Meridien Sheraton Hotel, located in Uptown Charlotte, is a 605-room dual complex with 65,000 sq. ft of meeting and conference space. The Event Manager assists in planning and execution of meetings and special events. Position assists in the implementation of departmental strategies. The position has responsibility for assisting in the execution of all property events with a seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales where appropriate. Develops a business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability. Prepares weekly and monthly action plans for effective search of sales leads and prospects. Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed. Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance. Provides timely, accurate, competitive proposal request responses, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin. Negotiates rates, prepares and closes sales contract; discusses all aspects of group meeting and prepares group resume and banquet event orders. Obtains customer signatures on all documents, and collects payment in a timely manner Communicates events to banquet and food/beverage staff for proper meeting room set, menu preparation and timeliness of group events per confirmed banquet event orders Effectively and efficiently monitor and manage all aspects of the pre-event, event, and post-event details: track, detail, and communicate the particulars of each assigned event and group – including but not limited to – room blocks, meeting space, special concessions, group history and other reports, cut-off and other key dates, contract clauses, group resumes, event orders and BEO’s, billing details, and other integral aspects of groups and events. Maintains accurate records of all sales calls, proposals, contracts and lost business Creates and conducts presentations and sales calls; attends trade shows as needed. Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines. Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team. Respond in a quick, timely, and professional manner to all internal partners and external customers, and deliver clear Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service Creates an atmosphere in all event management operations areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations. Sets a positive example for guest relations. Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels. Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints. Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service. Ensures employees understand expectations and parameters. Strives to improve service performance. Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations. Must have exceptional mathematical and computer skills. CI/TY and/or Lightspeed Experience preferred. 1-2 Years Management Experience preferred. College education and relevant training and experience required. Additional education preferred. Ability to timely obtain any required licenses or certificates. CPR training required; first aid training preferred. Additional language ability preferred. Occasional travel required.
