The Job The Events Manager is responsible for supporting, planning, and executing all store and client events within the FAO Schwarz Flagship store. This role requires a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented person who is highly adept at cultivating strong relationships both internally and externally. The Events Manager should be an enthusiastic and dynamic professional with outstanding communication, the ability to take initiative, and collaborate effectively to deliver a world-class experience for our guests.
Reporting to:
Director of VIP Experiences and Events What You’ll Do Guest Collaborate directly with clients to understand their needs and ensure all facets of the event meet or exceed their expectations. Maintain excellent record keeping and client detail to understand the profile of each VIP client. Understand when to act with urgency, problem solve, and pivot when needed to meet VIP client expectations. Exhibit resourcefulness and employ strong negotiation skills to arrive within budget for each event. Maintain an excellent understanding of current packages and offerings to maximize sales and satisfaction of repeat clients. Adapt your style to each client and think creatively to design events that fit their unique vision. Attend networking events and exhibit strong interpersonal ability to build rapport with clients. Team Create the run of show for each event and communicate expectations with internal and external partners. Ensure that additional staffing or schedule adjustments are communicated in good time to the store leadership team. Go through the proper channels to ensure group and private events are delivered on brand and in line with our marketing standards. Partner with the store team to create signage and communicate with guests to limit negative impact on their shopping experience while private events are occurring. Create and evolve VIP package decks and selling tools to support the Director of VIP Sales and Events. Build strong relationships with the Operations, Facilities, Sales and Experience, and Store Leadership teams and communicate support needs ahead of each event. Store Role model excellent communication skills and ensure all stakeholders understand what is required of them to support and maximize the success of the event. Build relationships with third-party vendors in store to leverage experience and add-on options for our VIP guests. Be able to work within budgets, track expenses, and support preparation of VIP Sales and Events expense reporting within agreed timeframes. Ensure administrative loss prevention controls are followed to reduce shrink and risk to the business. Take ownership of the logistics of the event, including the physical preparation, setup and breakdown of equipment. Serve as primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and staff needs during the event. Identify potential risks or challenges associated with the event and develop contingency plans to mitigate them. Support events for our third-party vendors and act as liaison to ensure their needs are met. Maintain strong record keeping, calendar management, and administrative support functions. Responsible for conducting a post-event analysis, gathering feedback from stakeholders, analyzing data, and identifying areas for improvement. What You Have 2+ years experience in an Events Management role within a fast-paced premium retail or experience-based environment. Excellent business acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit with a bias toward action. A true passion for events management, hospitality, and client satisfaction. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a high-level attention to detail. Flexible open availability in line with a Flagship Retail environment across days, evenings and weekends. Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, twisting, and standing for long periods of time.
