Required Years of Experience 2 years Job Details The HR and Service Manager is responsible for managing overall staffing and compliance and shall require that the employee regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance, subject to the review of the employer, including but not limited to: recruiting event staff talent, placing established staff on assignments, tracking staff hours and pay, as well as train service staff to agreed upon standards. To achieve success as a staffing manager, being assertive and well-organized comes in handy. For this position it is key to have a proactive and solution-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills, computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), interest in food trends, and a rigorous attention to detail. Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple demands under pressure, interact with management and handle confidential information while having a professional, calm demeanor. We are offering this hybrid position with both service and HR training responsibilities for those individuals with key skillsets suitable for long-term success. This is an exempt position and the salary is in the $66,000-$76,000/year range.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit candidates for all event positions including but not limited to captains, servers, bartenders and chefs. Understanding the in’s and out’s of each position and the qualifications needed for success.
Teach, train, and mentor, including identifying opportunities for cross-training and advancement.
Resolve conflict and employee performance issues through mediation, coaching and counseling, and progressive discipline.
Attend as many events as possible to get to know your staff’s strengths and weaknesses as well as educate yourself on MGCE’s products and services.
Utilize event orders when determining the appropriate staff and staff skillsets needed for successful event execution.
Book/schedule staff for all events and production needs through our Staffmate software.
Onboard new employees with required paperwork and documentation; create HR folders for employees.
Conduct quarterly service trainings for staff in conjunction with relevant managers/departments and with the assistance of approved captains.
Draft and release necessary correspondence to staff as it relates to staff compliance, company and event updates or other communications as needed per management.
Create staff lists in event folders, update post event with rate of pay, total hours worked, etc.
Send completed staff lists to Finance by end of day Monday for review and payroll processing.
Answer the office phone and be available to accept office deliveries and new event inquiries.
Distribute and update all company calendars including Event calendar on Google Docs.
Establish relationships with our account managers to understand and support clients and events including event staffing needs, site visits, support client tastings, onsite event support, and event inventory management.
Maintain a good working relationship with new contacts/leads.
Coordinate details and business relationships with outside 3rd party vendors including but not limited to outside staffing agencies, staff vehicle rental companies, ice delivery companies, etc.
Order MGCE Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and collect required COIs from vendors for events.
Create Event Production Schedules/Event Contact Sheets for events.
Evaluating potential courses of action when presented with an event or staffing issue and executing a decision on the issue after considering the various courses of action relating to the successful business operations for our clients.
Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Update job knowledge and experience by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal & professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Making recommendations for an action or improvement, including but not limited to general business operations, client event management, or the staffing department, although such recommendations may be reviewable by management.
Ability to commute to and from the New York City office on a regular basis while maintaining a flexible schedule for early morning, late night, or weekend events.
Promote company culture in the office and at events; is a team player and is proactive.
Review internal documents for compliance; provide staff with updated documents/paperwork as needed by the city/state and/or business.
Be attuned to all MGCE internal documents as it relates to Tripleseat.
Monitor event details on Tripleseat and update information accordingly.
Schedule and host weekly team meetings, Sales Meetings, and pre-production calls for events.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years progressive experience in a staffing, service or booking role in the hospitality industry.
