This position requires year-round, night, weekend, and holiday work. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Assists in the implementation of festivals and events offered throughout Charleston County. Events range in size from small events to large scale public festivals, and may occur in parks, community recreation sites, or sites belonging to programming partners and other locations. Assists with rural recreation programming, inclusion programming, holiday programming, children’s programming, and internal/external events as assigned. Assists in the maintaining, cleaning, and organization of the Festival and Event programming equipment. This includes but is not limited to tents, tables, trailers, PA, etc. Fulfills other duties as requested by Festival and Event programming staff. This includes but is not limited to serving alcohol at times. Communicates with park patrons in a kind, courteous, informative, and helpful manner within the scope of their job responsibilities. Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older. Ability and willingness to set up and break down programming equipment such as tents, tables, chairs, stage, PA equipment, etc. Assists in coordination and supervision of part-time programming staff, volunteers, vendors, and contract workers at programs and events. Ability to present ideas effectively, with clear and concise communication. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with CCPRC staff, officials, and the public; ability to accept constructive criticism and the ability to demonstrate good judgement, tact, and courtesy. Ability to exercise mature judgment and function efficiently with broad guidelines and minimum direction. Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete a given task. Ability to manage time effectively to complete given tasks. Ability to establish and present themselves in a professional manner and reflect professional work habits in an office setting. Ability to drive, tow, and back trailers and oversized agency vehicles. Assists the Festival and Event team with the production of vinyl sign requests. Attends Festival and Event team and committee meetings as needed. Ability to pass and maintain alcohol server training certification. Manage onsite alcohol and beverage sales. Responsible for Festival and Event cash control processes and data/financial reporting before, during, and after events. Assists in Marketing efforts, mainly poster distribution. Shall possess and maintain a valid S.C. Driver’s License with preferred experience in operating large vehicles with trailers. Minimum Training and Experience Must be a high school graduate, associate degree preferred. Experience planning special events or program planning preferred. Frequently, the employee is required to be able to lift heavy items and equipment to set up and tear down for events. May be required to lift up to 50lbs alone and above 50lbs jointly with other staff members. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat, humidity, rain, cold, wind, and sunlight. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
