Job SummaryUnder regular direction and in compliance with standard operating procedures and policies, coordinates the daily operations of the Unity Park Welcome Center, Canteen, and Honor Tower to include event space rentals, customer relations, opening and closing of facilities, operation of point of sale (POS) system, maintenance and inventory of food and retail establishment, coordination of inbound sales requests, and serves as point of contact for special event clients and vendors. Supports the daily operation of the Canteen by ordering and merchandising product, maintaining cleanliness, overseeing inventory management and running a POS software program. Aides in the daily operation of the Honor Tower by opening and closing the facility, completing reservations and assisting in Honor Tower special events. Conducts tours and site visits of the Unity Park facilities to potential clients. Assists in leading and coordinating seasonal and temporary part-time personnel and volunteers. Provides outstanding customer service to the public on the phone, via email and in-person at Unity Park. Distributes information and provides directions for Unity Park, Swamp Rabbit Trail and Greenville’s Park system. Connects with neighborhood associations, non-profit agencies and organizations to foster community involvement and provide critical feedback to City management. Monitor and inspect associated equipment for safety and security of the Welcome Center, Canteen, Honor Tower and additional park facilities. Maintains and implements City safety protocols and procedures as required. Tracks and maintains participant and program records as needed. Works a flexible schedule that varies as needed for booked rentals.

Unity Park Facilities:

Assist in the staffing, cleanliness, customer relations and administrative support for Unity Park facilities. Ensure all facilities are properly maintained. Distribute information to visitors including maps, brochures and general information. Respond to visitor questions, comments and suggestions via phone calls and emails. Provide directions and resolve minor issues; escalate complex issues as needed. Conduct tours and site visits of the Unity Park facilities to potential clients. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through direct observation, recommend changes and implement management decisions. Assist in training, leading, and coordinating seasonal and temporary personnel and volunteers in the performance of shared responsibilities. Participate in the interviewing and selection process for seasonal and temporary personnel and volunteers as needed. May be responsible for handling or processing of program payments and monitoring nominal expenditures. Coordinate one or more of the following facilities:

Unity Park Welcome Center:

Act as point of contact and key resource for Welcome Center calendar, capacities and fees. Assist Unity Park Manager and Welcome Center Coordinator with coordination and execution of events at Unity Park and Prisma Health Welcome Center. Coordinate event logistics, including customer relations and communication, load-in, setup, execution, and breakdown of events.

Unity Park Canteen:

Act as point of contact for the Canteen. Coordinate the staffing, ordering, merchandising and reporting for the food and retail operation. Work with local vendors to fulfill orders, maintain proper inventory, operate POS software and pay invoices.

Unity Park Honor Tower:

Act as point of contact for the Honor Tower. Coordinate the daily opening and closing of the facility, facilitate customer transactions, answer emails and phone calls, and coordinate group reservation inquiries. 50%

Provide Responsive Customer Service:

Provide excellent customer service by greeting park visitors, answering questions and providing information about Unity Park, Swamp Rabbit Trail, and the Greenville Park system. Develop and maintain a positive relationship between clients, vendors and the City. Serve as a liaison and resource for the public, businesses, permit holders, City departments, as well as other outside organizations and stakeholders by responding to questions and concerns. Identify potential issues and resolve problems within level of authority, referring to supervisor as appropriate.25%

Monitor & Inspect Facilities:

Monitor and inspect associated equipment for safety and security of the Welcome Center, Canteen, Honor Tower and additional park facilities. Ensure that equipment is inventoried and maintained on a regular basis. Notify building maintenance personnel as needed for facility or equipment repairs. Assist Unity Park Manager in monitoring and administering public property rules and regulations, including event permits and Unity Park encroachments. 15%

Maintain Records:

Track and maintain event inquiries, site visits and reservations through digital management software. Record daily attendance of Welcome Center, including drop-in participants, facility rentals, etc. Collect event & vendor documents for assigned events. Track sales, inventory, pricing and prepare sales reports for Canteen. Provide detailed reports on attendance, group requests and financials for the Honor Tower. Maintain Welcome Center event portfolio by requesting images from past clients and photographers. Prepare and summarize data for quarterly and yearly reports as needed. Assist in the collection of data in support of departmental budget reports as needed. 10%Perform other duties as assigned.

Job RequirementsAssociate degree in event management, parks and recreation management, or a related field.

Over one (1) year of experience in recreation programming, event coordination, facilities management, and/or customer service.

Any equivalent combination of directly related education, training, and experience with progressive responsibility in recreation, event coordination, facilities management, or a related field will be considered.

Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in recreation or a related field. Driver’s License RequirementsValid South Carolina Class D Driver’s License.

Operate department equipment to include, hand trucks, utility vehicles, and vehicles.

Operate general office equipment to include scanner, printer, copier, telephone, and computer with Microsoft Office Suite.

Utilize software and systems to include venue layout software, and digital management software.
