JOB OVERVIEW

The CT Team Member plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of the entire facility – both kitchen and bar – at Relic Coffee Company. This position involves a variety of tasks that support the Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) teams, ensuring that the restaurant runs efficiently and that high standards of food safety and cleanliness as well as food quality are maintained. While BOH work is done in the kitchen, the FOH portions of this position are customer-facing and require a high level of customer service skills and experience. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and communicative team player who is passionate about coffee and bread, and eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment. The CT Team Member reports to the General Manager. This job offers the possibility of full-time or part-time work and candidates with long-term goals in the food and beverage industry are preferred. – BOH

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES BACK OF HOUSE JOB SUMMARY

As a BOH Team Member at Relic Coffee Company, you will be responsible for working with the kitchen team to prepare all food ingredients for the front and back of the house, as well as the creation of food items during operations in normal business hours. Your responsibilities in the BOH are not customer-facing, but directly impact the customer experience, and should be taken very seriously. You will also be responsible for following all health code standards, including completing a ServSafe certification, and maintaining a consistently clean and sanitary food environment.

BACK OF HOUSE RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Preparation and Baking:

Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring food items. Follow recipes and presentation specifications to prepare dishes accurately and efficiently. Ensure the proper storage of food items and maintain a clean and organized workspace. Bake and assemble dishes as directed by the Kitchen Manager or General Manager, ensuring quality and consistency. Monitor food baking times to ensure optimal flavor and presentation.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, utensils, and equipment. Regularly clean kitchen equipment, including ovens, blenders, cooktops, pots/pans, and refrigerators. Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with local food safety standards.

Inventory Management:

Ensure proper labeling and inventory rotation. Help maintain an inventory of kitchen supplies, notifying the management of low stock levels. Prepare and maintain accurate inventory of all pre-prepared food items.

Collaboration :

Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth workflow and timely service. Communicate effectively with both Back of House and Front of House team members to coordinate tasks and maintain a positive work environment. – FOH

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FRONT OF HOUSE JOB SUMMARY

As a FOH Team Member at Relic Coffee Company, you will be the face of our brand, providing exceptional service to our customers while crafting high-quality coffee and beverages. You will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and smoothies, all while maintaining a clean and inviting environment. Your role will also involve operating the point of sale (POS) system, managing cash and credit transactions, and ensuring a smooth and efficient service experience for all customers.

FRONT OF HOUSE RESPONSIBILITIES
Beverage Preparation:

Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso, and tea beverages according to established recipes and standards. Ensure consistency in flavor, presentation, and quality of all drinks served. Maintain knowledge of coffee bean types, processing methods, brewing techniques, and equipment. Recommend and customize drinks based on customer preferences and dietary needs.

Customer Service:

Greet customers warmly and engage them in conversation to create a welcoming atmosphere. Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing recommendations and answering questions about menu items. Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive experience. Upsell food and beverage items to enhance the customer experience and increase sales.

Point of Sale Operations:

Operate the POS system to process customer orders and payments accurately. Handle cash, credit, and gift card transactions, ensuring all funds are balanced at the end of each shift. Maintain a clear and organized cash drawer, reporting any discrepancies to management immediately.

Cleanliness and Maintenance:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including the coffee bar, dining area, and equipment. Follow health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures. Clean and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and brewing equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Restock supplies as needed, including coffee beans, milk, syrups, and pastries.

Team Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient service and a positive work environment. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance product knowledge and service skills. Support new team members in training and integrating into the Relic Coffee Company culture.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous kitchen experience in a restaurant or similar environment is a plus, but not required. Food Handler’s Certification or equivalent is required upon hire.

Skills :

Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques. Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods (up to 10 hours consecutively) and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs). Comfortable working in a hot and sometimes noisy environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires flexibility in work hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Employees will be exposed to various kitchen hazards, including hot surfaces, sharp knives, and cleaning chemicals. Join us in creating an exceptional dining experience for our guests!
