Compensation and Benefits The position is a 20-30 hr./week, hourly, seasonal, at will” position. This is an hourly position that will pay $20.00 per hour to start. This position is designed to be a 30-40 hr./week position and upon completion of a 90-day probationary period, there is the possibility of a year-round extension of the position depending on employee performance, availability of funding, and supply / demand for local produce. Position Summary Farmer Foodshare’s Food Hub Distribution Associate is a 30-40 hr./week, non-exempt position and acts as a key member of the Food Hub team. The ideal candidate is a high-energy team player, dedicated to operational excellence and superior customer service. This position requires a flexible schedule, the ability to lift 50-pound boxes of fresh produce and drive more than 3 hours at a time. •Candidates must have a clean driving record for the last 3 years, meaning no accidents and no speeding tickets or moving violations. A driving record background check will be conducted on all potential candidates. The primary responsibilities of this position are driving and delivery-related, but each food hub team member is expected to pitch in and see that the work is done, so other miscellaneous duties are assigned. In a team of dedicated people moving local food from field to fork, this position is mostly focused on the transportation and logistics of aggregation and distribution – i.e., driving a truck to make pick-ups and deliveries – and you will be supported by a team of other caring, responsible, dedicated folks making this happen each day. Essential Duties Make pick-ups and deliveries in 16′, refrigerated box truck Pull & pack customer orders Load and unload orders onto trucks Regularly use manual pallet jack, electric pallet jack and electric pallet stacker, will train right candidate Make long distance drives – day trips only Maintain a neat, safe, and organized work environment Provide superior customer service, namely timely and accurate service to all stakeholders, including: our network of farmers, community partners, clients, and receivers Use Farmer Foodshare forms and tools to track and document invoices, receipts, deliveries, etc. Help with any facilities or operations needs, as directed by supervisor(s). This may include packing food boxes, cleaning workspaces, or supporting volunteers. Essential Experience, Technical Skills and Competencies Valid drivers’ license and 3+ years driving experience. Clean driving record, no accidents or moving violations for 3 years prior Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly if needed Basic math skills Must have good English speaking, reading/writing communication skills Spanish speaking skills are a huge plus, but not required. Experience handling fresh produce and/or agriculture system work preferred Time management and punctuality Organized and detail-oriented to keep track of forms, inventory, etc. Experience driving a 16 ft. Box truck and/or larger vehicle experience preferred but not required – we will train if needed.
