This role is essential in helping community members, especially those facing hardship, access vital pet food and support services with dignity and respect. This individual will be responsible for assisting clients in accessing the Pet Pantry and related outreach programs, maintaining clear and compassionate communication, and processing requests efficiently. This includes managing inventory, coordinating with Pantry Partners for food supply logistics, scheduling and supporting volunteers, and delivering supplies to clients experiencing transportation barriers. With a trauma-informed approach, the individual will provide compassionate care and guidance to individuals, working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure a seamless and respectful experience for all. This position offers a combination of in-office and remote work and may require evening or weekend hours as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist community members in accessing Pet Pantry and Outreach services. Maintain ongoing communication with clients to ensure timely and responsive support. Process and fulfill Pet Pantry requests and manage inventory levels. Coordinate with Pantry Partners for food supply pickups or drop-offs. Organize and oversee Pantry volunteer scheduling and activities. Deliver Pantry supplies to clients with transportation challenges. Provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive support and resources to clients. Collaborate with staff and volunteers to advance the SPCA’s mission and values. Perform other duties as assigned. This individual will participate in creating a thriving culture of philanthropy at the SPCA Serving Erie County by increasing awareness and support of our organization. This is achieved by being knowledgeable and supportive of SPCA programs and events, sharing your passion for service to animals and people within our community, and serving as an inspiration by providing an exemplary level of animal care and guest service. The successful candidate will possess the following competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with and relate to a diverse population. Ability to express organizational standpoints when serving as an SPCA representative. Ability to function well independently and as a team member. Ability to mediate and problem-solve in the moment. Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly. Excellent attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to multitask. Experience in community outreach or related fields is preferred. Confidence in using computer systems and learning new software. Commitment to promoting animal welfare and serving the community. Willingness to discuss SPCA policy and procedure in a non-confrontational, fact-based manner. Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
