Job Description
Shift Brewer
Department:
Brewing
Location:
Portland, ME Allagash Brewing Company is looking for an experienced shift brewer to join our hard-working team. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards by following established procedures. Just as important is a sense of pride in your work, a collaborative mindset, and a willingness to support your teammates. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes satisfaction in consistent, high-quality results, and thrives in a team-oriented environment. Beyond technical skills, we value a positive team dynamic. We’re looking for someone who treats their peers with respect, communicates effectively, and adapts to changing priorities throughout the year. Reliability and flexibility is key, as brewing is a 24-hour operation, and this position includes overnight shift responsibilities. Brewing responsibilities involve overseeing all aspects of a fully automated brewhouse, ensuring precision and consistency in every batch. Cellaring work includes operating a centrifuge, transferring beer between tanks, and maintaining accurate records. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is a shared responsibility, and every team member plays a role in upholding our high standards. In a collaborative production facility, some packaging work on our canning, bottling, and kegging lines is also part of the role. This is a full-time, Monday-Thursday position (4 day/10 hour shifts). We currently run 2 primary shifts: early and late, and brewers will work both shifts at different times of their employment, in addition to periodic slots in an overnight rotation. A minimum of three years of brewing experience is required, though experience in other similar manufacturing environments will also be considered. While familiarity with a large automated brewhouse is a plus, it is not a requirement. We are proud to provide a livable wage and benefits package including: 100% paid premiums for employee health, dental, life and disability benefits; generous paid time off; paid volunteer time; up to $5,250 annually for continuing education; fitness center and 401(k) with employer match up to 4%. We are on the bus line and offer free bus passes, or parking, as well as covered bike racks, changing rooms and showers. At Allagash, safety is our top priority. We have strict protocols in place to protect our team from injury and health risks. We provide uniforms, steel-toe boots, and additional personal protective equipment such as eyewear and hearing protection. We value a diverse workforce and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including those from historically underrepresented communities in craft beer. This position is open to all qualified candidates.
