Job Description:
Are you eager to break into the craft brewing industry? The Apprentice Brewer position at Havoc Brewing Company is a hands-on training opportunity designed to help you build the skills necessary for a successful career as a professional brewer or cellarer. No prior brewing experience is required—just a Can-Do attitude , some mechanical aptitude, a willingness to work hard, and a passion for learning.
What You’ll Learn:
As an apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience in all aspects of brewery operations, including: The brewing process from grain to glass, including ingredient preparation, fermentation monitoring, and quality control techniques. Proper handling, operation, and maintenance of brewing equipment, including fermenters, brite tanks, kegging systems, and canning systems. Best practices for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining a brewery to meet professional standards. Techniques for packaging beer, such as keg filling and preparing products for distribution. How to troubleshoot brewing processes and maintain quality assurance. Brewing science and industry insights directly from an experienced brewer with a Master’s Degree in Brewing Science .
Physical Requirements:
Consistently lift and carry up to 65 pounds and, with assistance, move full half-barrel kegs weighing approximately 165 pounds. Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, lifting, kneeling, and repetitive hand and wrist motion. Work for extended periods on your feet, often in a hot, cold, or hazardous environment.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years old. Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new skills. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently while taking direction from experienced brewers. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 65 pounds and move kegs weighing 165 pounds (with assistance). A positive, adaptable attitude in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
