Security Professional / Host Armour House & Pogo 2309 1st Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203 We are seeking a security/host to join our team at Pogo!

Position Overview:

The Fine Dining Security Professional & Host plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, security, and satisfaction of our guests at Pogo. This individual will serve as the first point of contact, warmly greeting and welcoming guests, while also ensuring a secure environment. The role combines the art of hospitality with the responsibility of maintaining a professional, safe atmosphere. The ideal candidate is personable, highly observant, and capable of defusing potentially dangerous situations with grace and discretion.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Reception & Hospitality:

Warmly greet guests upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Verify guest reservations and check IDs when required to maintain guest safety protocols. Show guests the available seating areas or private booths, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience. Provide information about the bar and above restaurant when necessary. Handle guest inquiries and complaints with professionalism, escalating issues to management when necessary.

Security & Safety:

Monitor entrance and bar areas to ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and staff. Perform ID checks at the entry way for all guests, ensuring compliance with age restrictions and other legal requirements. Assess and manage any potentially dangerous situations, using de-escalation techniques to maintain a peaceful environment. Collaborate with management and law enforcement when necessary to handle emergency situations. Conduct regular checks of the premises, all areas and restrooms, to ensure guest and staff safety.

De-escalation & Conflict Management:

Remain vigilant for signs of conflict or unrest, using communication skills to diffuse tense situations before they escalate. Employ non-confrontational methods to resolve disputes, using diplomacy and tact to maintain a positive dining atmosphere. Handle intoxicated or disorderly guests with a calm, firm, and courteous approach, following restaurant protocols for removal if necessary.

Professionalism & Discretion:

Maintain a polished appearance in alignment with fine dining standards, acting as a representative of the restaurant’s brand. Provide discreet support in handling sensitive guest situations, always maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Build rapport with regular guests, offering personalized attention while balancing security responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in hospitality, guest services, or a similar customer-facing role. Background in security or law enforcement is a strong asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with guests, staff, and authorities. Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities. Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage high-stress situations with professionalism. Familiarity with ID verification processes and local regulations. A professional demeanor with a strong focus on hospitality and guest satisfaction. Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods and managing potentially physically demanding situations.

Working Conditions:

Evening and weekend availability is required. The role involves both indoor and potentially outdoor duties depending on the situation. Professional attire required in alignment with fine dining standards.
