Front of House Manager Job Summary:

Mai-Kai Restaurant, renowned for its immersive Polynesian theme and historic significance, is seeking a welcoming and organized Host to enhance our guest experience. This role is crucial in setting the tone for our guests’ dining experience, requiring a blend of hospitality, efficiency, and a passion for service.

Required Training, Experience, and Education:

Previous experience as a host or in a customer service role is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent; further education in hospitality or related field is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English. Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong interpersonal skills and a welcoming demeanor. Ability to stand for prolonged periods and manage the flow of guests efficiently.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Greet guests promptly and warmly as they enter the restaurant, providing an excellent first impression. Manage reservations and waiting lists, using seating software efficiently. Guide guests to their tables, providing menus and informing them of any specials or promotions. Maintain a tidy entrance area and ensure the dining area is presentable. Coordinate with waitstaff and bussers to ensure smooth operation and quick table turnover. Answer phone calls, take reservations, and respond to guests’ questions regarding menu or restaurant information. Assist in event planning and execution, particularly for large groups or special occasions. Engage with guests to ensure they receive high-quality service throughout their visit. Monitor and manage the flow of guests, providing accurate wait times and attentively addressing any delays. Attend all staff meetings and training sessions to enhance job knowledge and skills.
