In this part-time Play Cafe Host & Party Assistant role, you will serve as the first point of contact with our guests which involves checking them in, helping them sign our safety waivers, and answering any questions they may have. Other day-to-day responsibilities include making cafe drinks at our full-service coffee bar, keeping the space clean and sanitized, changing out play equipment and toys regularly, and making sure our guests feel as welcome and comfortable as possible from the time they enter until they leave. We also host private birthday parties and ticketed events, so this role also involves assisting with the coordination and set-up/cleanup of parties and events, being the first point of contact to the host families, and promoting these events to our customers who are thinking about booking with us. This is a part-time position, and is primarily for weekend shifts on Saturdays and Sundays during normal business hours (8am – 6pm). The expected range of hours per week is between 7-16 hours , so this is perfect for someone just looking for a few extra hours each weekor a part-time position on the weekends . Responsibilities Greeting guests helping them feel welcome and comfortable, assisting them with signing safety waivers, and answering any questions they have during their visit to ensure they have a positive experience from when they arrive to when they leave Assisting with the coordination, set-up and running of birthday parties and ticket events including answering parents’ questions prior to and after booking, assisting with set up and clean up, and making sure our guests have what they need during their event. Keeping the space clean/sanitized including picking up the play area, occasionally sanitizing all of the play equipment, cleaning up messes, and keeping the bar/cafe area/restrooms/party room clean and organized. Making coffee and tea drinks for customers at our full-service coffee bar, and serving customers beer/wine (if you are 18 years or older). Ensure parents are supervising their children during their visit and being able to speak up when needed in order to keep the environment safe. Willingness to step in if we’re ever short-handed or need someone to fill in for a shift. Qualifications Outgoing/people person and ability to build relationships Experience and enjoyment with working with kids is preferred Ability to learn quickly and openness to learn new things Great organizational skills Excellent communication skills (in-person, online and via telephone) Punctual Proactive and go-getter attitude Openness to others’ points of views and advice 16 years of age or older (18 or older to pour beer/wine)

Pay Range:

Equivalent of between $12.00 – $16.00/hour, based on experience and hours worked ( $9.25/hour starting base pay plus tips , which are pooled and distributed to staff each pay period based on number of hours worked).

Hours:

As mentioned above, this is primarily a weekend position so the expected range of between 7-16 hours per week.
