Host Reports to: Restaurant Management About Umiya Umiya is a family-led, all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant chain dedicated to providing authentic and memorable dining experiences. With locations across the U.S., Umiya offers a wide range of high-quality Japanese cuisine, including hotpot and other traditional dishes, all crafted to bring the flavors of Japan to our guests in a warm and welcoming environment. Role Overview At Umiya, our hosts are the first point of contact for guests and play an essential role in creating an inviting and exceptional dining experience. Hosts greet each guest with warmth, guide them to their table, introduce them to their server, and manage the restaurant’s waitlist during busy times. Umiya hosts help set the tone for the experience, ensure guest satisfaction, and maintain a clean, organized front-of-house area. Responsibilities & Duties Greet guests with a warm smile and provide friendly, attentive service Engage in light conversation with guests as they are seated and introduce their server Manage the waitlist accurately to set appropriate guest expectations during high volume periods Thank guests sincerely upon departure and invite them to return Ensure that all guest areas, including waiting areas and restrooms, are regularly cleaned and sanitized Collaborate with the server and kitchen teams to maintain a smooth guest flow throughout the restaurant Assist with additional guest service tasks as needed to ensure satisfaction

Qualifications Minimum:

Strong communication and customer service skills

Preferred:
