in partnership with the Laurel Lake Association to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS), plants and animals from regional bodies of water. As the first point of contact for visiting boaters, you will welcome them to our lake, share with them information about New Hampshire’s “Clean. Drain. Dry.” boating law, and conduct a brief inspection of their vessel(s) to ensure that there are no invasive plants or other species hitchhiking into Laurel Lake via the boat or trailer. Your ability to communicate effectively with a friendly, positive attitude will be key to your success in this position. This is an information sharing and boat inspection with consent position; enforcement of NH law IS NOT a part of this position. Duties Appear in branded shirts and greet all arriving and departing boaters and visitors. Staff the Laurel Lake boat ramp during assigned 3-5 hour shifts between 7am and 6pm. Increase public awareness of aquatic invasive species prevention methods and encourage boaters to practice the “Clean, Drain, and Dry” method of prevention. Conduct boat and trailer inspections with boaters’ permission and help boaters remove potentially invasive plants and animals from boats, trailers, and gear. Collect and enter boater survey data. for annual tracking. NOT BE an enforcer of local or state ordinances, rules, or laws. Be a key part of our effort to keep Laurel Lake clean and healthy. Requirements – Complete and submit application at https://www.laurellakeassn.com At least 17 years of age. Able & willing to work weekend hours from Memorial Day thru end of summer. Able to work summer holidays. Able & willing to work outside safely in a variety of weather conditions. Able to conduct a visual and tactile examination of all boat and trailer surfaces. Comfortable and proficient in interacting with strangers; professional, friendly, polite, sense of humor. Task-oriented and self-motivated. Able to work independently and without on-site supervision. Committed to fact-based information about aquatic invasive species prevention. Preference given to previous customer interface employment. Preference given to residents of Fitzwilliam, NH and the Monadnock region.
