Position Summary:
The hostess is the first point of contact for guests and plays a crucial role in setting the tone for their dining experience. This position involves warmly welcoming guests, managing reservations, coordinating seating arrangements, and ensuring the smooth flow of service in a fine dining environment. A professional, polished demeanor and exceptional customer service skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Greeting Guests:
Provide a warm, friendly, and professional welcome to all guests upon arrival.
Reservations Management:
Answer phone calls and manage online reservations, ensuring accurate booking details and accommodating special requests when possible.
Seating Coordination:
Plan and manage seating arrangements to balance guest preferences with operational efficiency, including managing waitlists during peak hours.
Menu Knowledge:
Be familiar with the menu, specials, and key details to address guest inquiries or relay information.
Ambiance Management:
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing host station and entryway. Monitor lighting, music, and overall ambiance to enhance the dining experience.
Guest Relations:
Respond to guest inquiries, address concerns, and handle complaints gracefully, escalating issues to management as needed.
Collaboration:
Work closely with servers, managers, and kitchen staff to ensure seamless communication and operations.
Farewell Guests:
Thank guests sincerely upon departure and invite them to return.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience as a hostess, front-of-house staff, or customer service role in a fine dining or upscale restaurant preferred.

Interpersonal Skills:
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage warmly and professionally with diverse guests.
Professional Appearance:
Maintain a polished and sophisticated appearance in accordance with fine dining standards.
Organizational Skills:
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage reservations, seating, and guest inquiries simultaneously.
Problem-Solving:
Ability to remain calm under pressure and address guest concerns with tact and diplomacy.
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable, Resy) and basic computer skills.
Teamwork:
Strong collaboration skills to coordinate effectively with the restaurant staff. Attention to

Keen eye for details to ensure an exceptional guest experience, from ambiance to seating arrangements.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods. Comfortable walking and occasionally assisting with light tasks (e.g., arranging chairs or handling menus).
Preferred Qualifications:
Fluency in multiple languages is a plus for accommodating international guests. Knowledge of fine dining etiquette and terminology.
