In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, setting the tone for their dining experience. Your primary responsibilities will include greeting guests, managing reservations, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. A passion for hospitality and excellent customer service skills are essential to succeed in this position. Responsibilities Greet and welcome guests as they arrive, ensuring a positive first impression. Manage the seating chart and coordinate reservations to optimize table turnover. Provide accurate wait times and assist guests in making informed decisions about their dining experience. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and dining area. Answer phone calls with professionalism, providing information about menu items and reservation policies. Collaborate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow. Address guest inquiries or concerns promptly and effectively, enhancing overall guest satisfaction. Demonstrate a full understanding of Open Table reservation system. A Host needs to know how to add new guests to guest list, add/alter reservations, set preferences and note any allergies or special requests. Call existing reservations to confirm them, this should be happening a day before the arrival date. Fold dining room napkins and, check for new clean napkins in laundry to be folded. Upon guest arrival, the host must give a friendly and professional introduction and welcoming to the property. This includes asking if a reservation was made previously and/or asking if the guest is staying for dinner or having drinks at the bar. All room service requests are the hosts’ responsibility. They will answer all incoming phone calls to the restaurant within 3 rings. The host also acts as an extension of the support staff. The host can often find themselves clearing and setting tables, watering guests or even running food/drinks for servers during a rush. Work alongside Hotel Front Desk Agents to get hotel reservations. Use that to cross reference staycations, call and set any reservations in Open Table. It is important that the host knows which server he/she is seating and the capabilities of each server. Talk to the MOD or SOD of any server concerns in order to have tables traded or pick up by others. Work alongside MOD or SOD to orchestrate floor cuts and changing sections once cuts have been made and properly communicating with the remaining staff. Teamwork and cooperation is key in this position. Be sure to communicate with MOD or SOD of any concerns or issues that can arise during service. Skills Strong guest relations skills with a focus on hospitality and customer service. Excellent phone etiquette for handling inquiries and reservations. Familiarity with Toast POS system is a plus but not required; training will be provided. Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is advantageous. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a friendly demeanor. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently. A proactive approach to helping guests and enhancing their overall experience at our establishment.
