OVERVIEW

Kaminsky’s Dessert Cafe is now hiring an Host / Cake Cutter As a Host / Cake Cutter your primary role is to warmly represent our long-standing establishment, part of the Homegrown Hospitality Group. You will be the first point of contact for guests, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere and efficient service whether guests are dining in or ordering takeout. The Homegrown Hospitality Group consists of 9 different business concepts and over 15 locations located throughout South Carolina in Charleston, Columbia, and Myrtle Beach. RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide a warm welcome to guests, promptly seating those dining in and communicating accurate waiting times. Manage the seating waitlist and seat guests in appropriate areas to ensure comfort and balanced distribution among servers. Inform guests about specials and promotions, and ensure servers are promptly notified of new guests. Greet and assist takeout guests and address inquiries about our dessert offerings. Assemble takeout orders and accurately process counter orders through the point of sale system. Plate and garnish all desserts to specification for both dine-in and takeout orders. Assist servers with food delivery and table bussing, and support bartenders with non-alcoholic barista drinks if under 21. Keep the counter station clean and organized, restocking supplies as needed. Address customer concerns with urgency and escalate issues to management when necessary. Thank guests upon departure, solicit feedback, and encourage future visits. Assist the Front of House team with various tasks, including bussing tables and resetting them. Handle phone calls, special orders, and takeout orders as needed. Count and balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts. Participate in cleaning and preparing the restaurant for the next shift or day.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum age of 16 years old. Alcohol Safety Certification provided within the first 7 days of training if not already certified. Prior experience in a restaurant or customer service role preferred but not required. Superior customer service and hospitality skills. Understanding of sanitation, food safety, and security procedures. Familiarity with food and beverage menus and promotions. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Ability to handle directions and execute team objectives. Basic mathematical skills and proficiency with point of sale systems. Conflict management and analytical skills. Ability to follow specific service guidelines while engaging guests. Maintain a high pace and intensity over extended periods. Reliability in adhering to schedules and covering shifts. Interaction Work collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively with management, bakers/pastry chefs, and serving staff. External Relationships Strive to exceed guest expectations through exceptional service, food, and value.

SALARY RANGE

$7.25 – $15 / Hour (plus tips)
