Description:

The Clocktower Hotel is looking for a front desk associate to fill an immediate opening in Latham, NY. The qualified front desk associate is dependable, detail-oriented, and has excellent customer service skills. They provide a positive and lasting impression on guests, leaving them eager to return and tell others about their experience. We promise the right candidate a fun, safe, positive atmosphere. Available front desk shifts are currently as follows, but shifts may vary:

Full-time:

3pm to 11pm Wednesday –

Sunday Part-time:

3pm to 11pm Saturdays and Sundays are mandatory

Job Description:

Room Assignments, Changes, and Issues Checks guests into and out of the hotel in an accurate, speedy, and courteous manner. Efficiently handles all payments received, whether cash, credit card, checks, or traveler’s checks. Balances/verifies all monetary transactions in the appropriate accounts. Ensures that all hotel keys are distributed to the appropriate parties and that guest privacy is maintained. Responsible for maintaining all documentation regarding room registration, changes, charges, credit card transactions, customer service, and maintenance issues. May direct other staff, such as housekeeping, in order to ensure that guest rooms are prepared to guest satisfaction. Balances and verifies cash drawer. Documents and runs reports correctly per each assigned shift. Fulfills and delivers guest requests to room. Check-in Choice Privilege members per brand standard. Guest Service Offers guests assistance whenever possible and in a friendly, professional manner. Uses effective customer service skills when resolving customer relations issues. Responsible for resolving or escalating customer relations issues. Answers inquiries about hotel policies and services. Provides directions to customers. Must respond to and follow up on all guest requests to ensure customers are satisfied with the hotel’s services and accommodations. Responsible for positively representing and promoting the property while always looking for group and future sales opportunities. Maintains thorough knowledge of Choice Advantage. Ensures systems and procedures are in place and followed for guest safety and security. Assists guests with luggage. Other Duties as Assigned Ensures that the lobby and front desk area is clean, organized, visually appealing, and well-stocked with all necessary supplies. Performs light housekeeping in the lobby. Inspects rooms and common areas if needed. Assists with breakfast service if needed. Properly compiles, completes, and distributes reports to all management and relevant staff. Reports any maintenance, security, or safety issues to the appropriate staff. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous front desk experience is highly preferred. Prior experience with windows-based software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, is highly preferred. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to work well and collaborate with others. Superior customer service skills. Excellent communication skills. May be required to stand for an extended period of time. Able to work a flexible schedule. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to utilize the Choice Advantage computer program. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
