Housing Manager About this opportunity: Supervises and participates in performing the day-to-day activities necessary for the smooth operation of a shelter providing housing, food, transportation and educational assistance.
Responsibilities include:
Ensures paperwork is completed and rules are followed by clients. Ensures compliance with The Salvation Army policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations. Provides administrative support for social services and housing program. Serves as lead worker to security personnel and participates in the same work. Monitors the behavior and activity of residents ensuring safety and compliance to house rules. Ensures shelter is maintained in a neat and proper order. Drives a Salvation Army vehicle for the purposes of transporting clients to and from appointments, for donation pick-ups, and other errands.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of household management techniques. Knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of basic record keeping practices and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior. Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures. Knowledge of security practices and procedures. Knowledge of acceptable driving techniques and practices. Knowledge of safely precautions associated with transporting passengers, protecting both passengers and the vehicle. Ability to influence and control human behavior and enforce security rules and guidelines. Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and effective manner. Ability to direct phone calls to the appropriate person or destination. Ability to prepare and process records and statistics in an accurate and complete manner. Ability to supervise resident activities to ensure facility is properly maintained and secured in accordance with established polices and procedures. Ability to become and remain certified to drive Salvation Army vehicles. What we are looking for in you: High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years’ experience in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public.
License and certifications:
Valid Driver’s license Physical requirements and working conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
