Job Summary :
The Hotel Engineering Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hotel’s maintenance and engineering operations. This includes ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of all guests and staff by maintaining the hotel’s physical infrastructure, machinery, and systems. The Lead Maintenance will manage the maintenance team, ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, and oversee any repair and renovation projects.
Key Responsibilities :
Maintenance and Operations :
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department, ensuring that all equipment and systems are operating efficiently. Ensure the proper functioning of all hotel mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire safety systems, and elevators. Conduct regular inspections of all hotel facilities to identify and address any maintenance or repair needs. Perform preventive maintenance programs on all hotel equipment, systems, and facilities.
Team Management :
Lead and supervise the engineering/maintenance team, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management. Ensure the team works in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. Uniform needs to be clean, pressed, and worn daily. We will provide the shirt and you will provide the pants, work boots/shoes. Delegate tasks, assign duties, and provide technical expertise and support. Provide training/support to entire hotel team.
Budget Management :
Develop and manage the department’s budget, ensuring cost control while maintaining high standards of quality. Ordering products as needed for the hotel. Track expenses for maintenance and repair services and suggest cost-saving measures. Review and approve purchase requisitions for maintenance supplies and equipment. Work within budget to ensure all equipment is up-to-date and ready for use.
Health and Safety :
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations. Implement and oversee safety training programs for engineering staff. Regularly review emergency procedures and systems for fire, power outages, and other potential hazards.
Guest Experience :
Act as a point of contact for guest requests and complaints related to the hotel’s physical infrastructure, promptly addressing issues to ensure guest satisfaction. Provide technical support to resolve guest concerns involving heating, cooling, lighting, plumbing, and electrical issues in guest rooms or common areas.
Project Management :
Coordinate and oversee hotel renovations, repairs, or upgrades in consultation with the management team. Work with external contractors and vendors for major repairs, ensuring that work is completed on time, within budget, and meets quality standards.
Documentation and Reporting :
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Prepare and submit regular reports regarding department performance, budget status, and any issues that need attention. Ensure all work orders, service contracts, and equipment manuals are kept up-to-date. Meet weekly with General Manager and other team leaders.
Sustainability and Energy Management :
Oversee energy-saving programs, sustainability initiatives, and eco-friendly practices in the maintenance operations. Track energy consumption and recommend strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Qualifications :
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facility Management, or a related field (preferred). Relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) are a plus.
Experience :
Minimum of 5 years of experience in hotel maintenance or engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (preferred). Strong background in managing maintenance teams and projects within a hospitality environment.
Skills :
In-depth knowledge of hotel engineering operations, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems. Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex systems and equipment. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational abilities. Ability to handle emergency situations and unexpected issues efficiently and calmly.
Other :
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Physical stamina to perform on-site inspections, lift materials, and perform maintenance tasks. Ability to work autonomously and quickly. Knowledge of relevant safety and environmental regulations.
Physical Requirements :
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to various temperatures, dust, and noise levels.
