DESCRIPTION

The Director of Engineering is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the operation, maintenance, and repair of hotel facilities, equipment, and tools. This involves overseeing and managing the engineering department, and coordinating all maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Directing the maintenance team’s day-to-day operations
• Overseeing and planning the installation and maintenance of equipment
• Planning, scheduling, and prioritizing maintenance team operations
• Ensuring that the function and appearance of all hotel facilities and amenities meet standards
• Reporting major repairs and items which cannot be repaired immediately to the general manager
• Developing emergency, high-priority, and long term repair plans and approaches
• Overseeing and coordinating renovations and other major projects
• Preparing reports on maintenance topics for the general manager
• Supervising regular inspections of property, equipment, and facilities
• Coordinating responses to maintenance related inquires and issues

RESONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

• Ensuring the smooth daily operation of all hotel facilities
• Ensuring the proper functioning of all safety systems
• Communicating and coordinating with other departments, especially the General Manager and the Director of Housekeeping, to ensure flawless hotel operations, appearance, and conditions
• Directing and supervising general repairs and preventive maintenance
• Maintaining accurate and adequate maintenance and safety records.
• Thinking quickly and act appropriately in high-pressure and emergency situations.
• Taking responsibility for the cleanliness and safety of plant and equipment rooms
• Developing and implementing maintenance and emergency policies and protocols
• Supervising, training, and developing maintenance staff
