JOB OVERVIEW
This position is primarily responsible for overseeing, managing and maintaining the Pool and Beach department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Faena’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately. Understands and responds to all guest needs and request in a timely and professional manner. Assists in creating, implementing and updating departmental procedures, manuals, etc. Assists in creating and issuing team member counseling and/or disciplinary forms as needed. Maintain and improve service standards in accordance with Forbes Travel Guide, Leading Hotels of the World and others. Maintains pool and beach policies and procedures, ensures professional standards of operations. Maintains adequate inventory of all necessary pool and beach supplies and equipment. Assists in planning & developing procedures to improve operations within the department. Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies. Upholds an open-door policy to ensure management is available for team members and their questions/concerns are addressed. Oversee the development of the team through training, coaching and mentoring Work closely with the Quality and Training Director assuring staff is properly and thoroughly trained. Conduct training programs on the required job functions with criterion expected and department orientation with new hires. Conduct ongoing training with existing staff. Create and complete work schedules, records and reports when needed. Completes daily payroll reports and prepares final time-log. Monitors and controls departmental expenditures maintains annual budget. Follows all procedures to when handling all cash, credit, and gift certificate transactions. Promotes and complies with all hotel policies and procedures. Maintains cleanliness and a safe work environment for employees and guest. Ensures all staff complies with departmental safety rules and regulations and proper use and handling of relevant equipment. Continuously review the operation and make recommendations on how to enhance the service.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience as a Pool and Beach Director in a luxury hotel. Food handling certification. Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls. Must be able to lift heavy objects, organize storerooms and aid receiving staff as needed. Most work tasks are performed outdoors. Must be able to stand/sit at a desk for majority of the shift. Walking is required the rest of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers and other office equipment as needed.
