Overview:

Overall responsibility for managing the overall rooms division with additional responsibilities in managing the recreation and retail departments by ensuring the smooth operation of the front office, bell/valet services, and concierge, with an express focus on housekeeping, public spaces, laundry, loss prevention, and communications in an attentive, professional, friendly, efficient, and courteous manner. The Director of Rooms is responsible for providing all guests with quality service while maximizing room revenue and productivity and developing managers and employees. In addition, the Director of Rooms must ensure that product quality and standards are met and maintained and that optimum five-star service standards are provided to hotel guests by ensuring that all Chatham Bars Inn, Forbes, Leading Quality Assurance, and AAA standards are adhered to. The Director of Rooms will create the rooms, recreation, and retail budgets, business plans, capital expenditures and will manage within approved plans and objectives. Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Managing an promoting quality service by staying true to service goals and standard operating procedures Coordinating the organization and administrative functions in all areas of the Rooms Division Implementing short and long term strategies, recommends budgets and manages expenses. Ensure that staffing is maintained at appropriate levels to match business needs and demands Closely monitor the financial performance of all departments with particular attention to the housekeeping expenses to ensure that they are kept in line with budget Ensure prompt response and promote and recognize opportunities to provide guest service above and beyond all expectation Manage the performance of associates within assigned areas which may include performance management, conflict resolution, training, discipline and development Implement procedures that ensure a smooth and efficient arrival and departure process. May fill in for various roles within the rooms department as the demands of business requires Maintains good customer relations by keeping abreast of all in-house and area functions in order to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses, in person and on telephone. Ensures front desk completes daily duties. Implement emergency organization procedures and training through the management of the security staff to ensure appropriate protection for hotel guests, staff and company assets. Works closely with housekeeping and maintenance to ensure property is maintained

Qualifications:

3 to 5 years’ experience in a comparable position in a luxury property required Forbes Travel Guide Four Star experience required, Five Star experienced preferred Full service resort/hotel experience required Excellent knowledge of all aspects of Rooms Division Operations Superior organizational and administrative skills Keen eye for detail Exceptional guest service and problem resolution skills Demonstrated leadership abilities Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle high pressure situations Ability to communicate well with customers and all operational departments throughout the Hotel Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
