EDUCATION

Prefer minimum of 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3 years experience in Housekeeping leadership role.

JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

Housekeeping manager is overseeing Housekeeping functions and staff on a daily basis, with emphasis on Public and Meeting Space, Gym, Restaurants and Employee areas. Ensure areas are clean and well-maintained. Directs and works with team to successfully execute Housekeeping operations. Continually conducts regular firsthand inspections in areas of responsibility and follows up to deliver results.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Must be able to drive a motor vehicle; Valid Driver’s License required. Must be able to lift, carry and move 40 pounds. Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions for long periods of time, in difficult positions.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

Reviews staffing levels to ensure that quality, guest service, operational needs, and productivity objectives are met. Oversees task checklists for each of the areas to ensure timely and comprehensive coverage and service. Inventories and monitors stock to ensure adequate supplies on hand. Supervises an effective inspection program for areas of responsibility. Understands the impact of departments’ operation; strives to be a good steward of company assets and resources. Ensures employees have proper supplies, equipment and comply with uniform and grooming standards. Communicates areas that need focus and attention to staff and follows up to ensure understanding. Supervises daily housekeeping shift operations and ensures compliance with standards and procedures. Communicates in departmental meetings and continually portrays a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental goals to produce desired results. Uses all available tools to train employees and provide follow-up as necessary. Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees and ensures good teamwork. Schedule employees to cover business demands, and ensure accurate tracking of time and attendance. Ensures employees understand expectations and priorities. Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently, disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to policy. Observes service interactions of employees and provides feedback to individuals. Ensures employee recognition is taking place on all shifts. Solicits employee feedback, maintains an “open door” policy, and elicits employee satisfaction feedback, to identify and address employee challenges or concerns. Conducts employee progressive disciplinary actions as needed. Participates in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training of new team members. Sets a positive example for hospitality. Participates in the development and implementation of creative ideas and solutions to improve guest satisfaction. Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service. Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement. Exceeds expectations in handling guest problems or complaints. Strives to improve service performance and support a “culture of clean”. Perform and follow-up on any other duties assigned by the Director of Rooms.
