Assistant Director of Housekeeping The Sanderling Duck, NC Description Position Overview Assist in overseeing and ensuring overall cleanliness of the hotel in accordance with Department of Health, Hotel, and Corporate standards. To ensure all safety procedures are adhered to, and follow all appropriate policies and procedures are adhered to, and follow all appropriate polices and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operation. Ensure prompt and courteous service to guests, and to ensure that all guest experiences are distinctively supreme. Assume all responsibility in the absence of Director of Housekeeping, ensuring that all cleaning and service standards/procedures are delivered consistently and that employees are motivated with demonstrated team work in support of the Room division. Position Responsibilities Supervise the housekeeping employees to attract, retain and motivate them while providing a safe work environment; interview, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, recommend and conduct performance and salary reviews and recommend discipline and termination, as appropriate. Supervise and inspect the daily cleaning of the guest rooms, public areas and back of the house; ensure compliance with accident/loss prevention programs, LSOPs and SOPs and health/sanitation standards and regulations to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. Monitor and report on expenses (payroll and supplies) to aid in controlling costs while ensuring adequate staff and supplies are on hand to provide top quality services. Assist Director of Housekeeping with budgeting processes throughout the year. Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction. Refer and follow up on maintenance issues/problems with Engineering to protect hotel assets, ensure a safe, accident free environment for guests and employees and maintain/ improve guest satisfaction. Log items into the Lost and Found and answer inquiries to maintain controls and ensure guest satisfaction. Work with the Security Department to implement emergency training and procedures to ensure appropriate protection of the hotel’s guests, staff and company assets. Maintain a good working relationship with other departments, employees and guests. Creates schedules and manages time off requests for the team. Assists the Director of Housekeeping with payroll items as needed. Select, train, supervise, schedule, develop, discipline, conduct performance appraisals, and counsel team members according to hotel policies and procedures. Assist in conducting monthly inventory and purchasing for the housekeeping department. Desired Qualifications Two years prior housekeeping management/supervisory experience Knowledge of inventories, scheduling, and productivity Knowledge of laundry process High School math level required Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other team members Read, write, and speak English fluently Ability to effectively manage time Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
