ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff. Plans work schedules to ensure adequate service. Inspects and evaluates physical condition of the facility in areas as assigned. Submits to management recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space and participates in reassigning of duties and tasks. Conducts periodic inventories of supplies and equipment and orders supplies as needed. Coordinates annual cleanings with the Environmental Services Director. Coordinates department functions with those of other departments. Investigates new and improved cleaning equipment, chemicals and processes. Conducts quality assurance inspections as requested. Provides thorough training of staff assigned to their leadership. Distributes work requests and tasks in a timely and efficient manner. May need to participate in task-related functions on a rare occasion, not to supercede supervisory expectations. Assists in operating the department within budgetary guidelines. Implements and monitors departmental compliance with all infection control policies and procedures. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Environmental Services Director. Must interact courteously, tactfully and politely with managers, co-workers, residents, vendors or associates to preserve productivity and moral.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 10 – 20 employees in the Environmental Services Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior housekeeping supervisory experience is preferred. Must be CPR certified within 30 days of employment.
