Job Summary This position is responsible for supervising Housekeeping staff in performing custodial duties and other related tasks as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Director for Facilities Management. •

Essential Job Duties Supervise daily housekeeping operations to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are met across all university buildings, including academic spaces, offices, restrooms, and public/common areas.
Adhere to and enforce all safety standards, work practices, policies, and procedures established by the University and the Director of Facilities Management.
Provide leadership, direction, and training to housekeeping staff, including assigning daily tasks, monitoring progress, and conducting regular quality checks.
Coordinate and perform routine cleaning duties as needed, including sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors; vacuuming carpets; and cleaning restrooms, windows, and surfaces.
Operate and train staff in the safe use of industrial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, and carpet shampooers; oversee equipment maintenance including adjusting, oiling, and changing pads and brushes.
Maintain cleaning supply inventory, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage and use of cleaning chemicals in compliance with safety guidelines.
Monitor and ensure the cleanliness and readiness of facilities for university events, including special events and weekend functions as assigned.
Conduct routine inspections of facilities and report any maintenance or repair needs (e.g., lighting, ceiling tiles, plumbing, etc.); perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
Maintain records related to cleaning schedules, staff performance, equipment usage, and supply orders.
Address employee performance concerns, promote a positive work climate, and support a team-oriented culture within the housekeeping department.
Communicate effectively with Facilities Management, university departments, and event coordinators to ensure housekeeping services align with university needs and schedules.
Coordinate staff in the set-up for events and activities as required, including graduation ceremonies.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and university safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE and handling of hazardous materials.
Support onboarding and continued training for new housekeeping staff; foster professional growth and development. Other Job Duties Required Qualifications A high school diploma or GED equivalent required. A minimum of three years of janitorial/housekeeping experience is required. Candidates should be well organized and able to prioritize work. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with prior supervisory experience and a valid driver’s license.
