Janitor / Custodian – $14/hr – (Mon-Thur 5pm-7pm) PPS, Inc. Montgomery, AL 36109 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our facilities. This position requires a proactive approach to custodial duties, ensuring that all areas are well-maintained and meet the highest standards of cleanliness. Responsibilities Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming of various surfaces. Maintain floors through buffing and floor care techniques to ensure they are in excellent condition. Conduct commercial and industrial cleaning tasks as required, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Assist in facilities maintenance by reporting any repairs or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel. Carry out residential painting tasks when necessary to enhance the appearance of the facility. Act as a porter by managing waste disposal and ensuring that all areas are free from litter and debris. Follow established cleaning procedures and schedules to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in all custodial duties. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, notifying management when supplies need replenishment. Skills Proficient in custodial practices with experience in commercial cleaning, industrial cleaning, or facilities maintenance preferred. Strong knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing and polishing. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively while handling multiple tasks. Good communication skills to interact positively with staff and visitors. Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
