JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective The Janitor is responsible for providing quality and efficient maintenance to Sun Terminal premises. These services are performed throughout the day on all areas of the building. The janitor is responsible for practicing safe work habits and for maintaining a clean and safe workplace environment. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Follow established maintenance schedules, overall floor maintenance of areas that include offices, lobbies, corridors, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas such as parking lots and dining rooms Perform cleaning activities within well established guidelines and assigned areas to ensure that quality standards, safety guidelines, and customer service expectations are met Gathers and empties trash cans; replaces trash can liners Clean up spills, replace air fresheners, change restock supplies, and maintain work done throughout the day Satisfactory and timely completion of assigned cleaning area according to schedule. Report equipment/cleaning product needs and or malfunctions to supervisor in a timely fashion Safe and proper mixing and use of cleaning solutions and adhere to all safety precautions. Follow maintenance schedules for all areas of the facility and grounds Represent facility in a positive manner; able to follow oral instructions, pleasant, tactful and courteous and cooperative with supervisor, co-workers, and client staff Communicates professionally with team members, supervisors, and customers Actively participates in safety or educational training as required Follows all safety standards & guidelines, including but not limited to, wearing of safety glasses, appropriate safety gloves as needed, properly laying out signs when cleaning, and work appropriate attire Performs any other management requests or directives as requested Experience and Skills Cleanliness Attention to details Safety awareness Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This position works in an office setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard cleaning equipment such as mops, dusters, brooms, bucket, paper towel, sponges, and cookware scrubbers, and standard cleaning chemicals, such as but not limited to, chlorine bleach, rubbing alcohol, window cleaner, and detergent. Physical Demands Is subject to lifting up to 50 lbs. without assistance Pushing/Pulling up to 80 lbs. without assistance Standing/Walking activities are encountered during the vas majority of the normal work day Sitting activities are normally not encountered outside of normal work breaks and would not exceed 10% of a work day Stooping/Bending/Squatting activities are encountered on a frequent basis Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling activities are encountered frequently during an average work day Climbing would comprise no more than 5% of an individual’s time Reaching activities are conducted on a frequent and repetitive basis throughout the work day An individual may be required to perform twisting activities, dependent on the type of position he need to place himself in while performing his/her job duties Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a Part-time position. Days and hours of work vary depending on the company’s needs. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Additional Eligibility Qualifications None required for this position.
