Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Aviation Porter is responsible for providing ground support services including baggage handling, passenger assistance, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in airport terminals or around aircraft. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient airport operations and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet passengers courteously and assist with luggage transportation (from drop-off zones to check-in areas or from arrivals to transportation). Safely handle and transport baggage and cargo. Operate baggage carts, trolleys, or mobility assistance equipment. Ensure trolleys and baggage carts are organized and available in designated areas. Assist elderly, disabled, or unaccompanied passengers as required. Deliver or collect items between aircraft, terminals, and baggage areas as directed. Maintain cleanliness in terminal areas, including lounges, baggage claims zones, and waiting areas. Ensure adherence to airport safety and security procedures. Report lost or unattended baggage and suspicious activity to appropriate authorities. Coordinate with airline ground staff and other teams for smooth operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or airport services is a plus. Physical fitness – able to lift heavy bags (up to 70 lbs) and stand/walk for extended periods. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays. Team-oriented with a proactive and professional attitude. Familiarity with airport protocols and safety guidelines is an advantage.
Work Environment:
Indoors and outdoors at terminals, baggage handling areas, and aircraft zones. Exposure to weather elements and aircraft noise. Use of safety gear as required (vests, gloves, etc.).
Compensation:
