05/05/2025 Custodian – FT $17.58/hr – Facilities Maintenance The Lead Custodian provides leadership and direction for housekeeping services for County facilities at various locations and may be assigned to different work areas and locations as workload requirements vary. Custodial projects included but are not limited to; performing cleaning duties custodial in nature, supervise other workers, coordinates time and leave, works independently and in cooperation with other employees to provide housekeeping services, responds to housekeeping service requests per established timeline, works with facility users to determine service needs, requests and maintains supplies and equipment, responsible for safety and security principles and is required to travel between multiple facilities based upon business needs. Responsible Lead Custodian oversees and participates in the cleaning of County buildings. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager. Requirements Assumes total routine tasks, including sweeping, scrubbing, dusting, polishing floors, washing walls, cleaning restrooms, windows, walks, and fixtures. Replenishes restroom supplies, empties garbage and trash containers. Requests requisition of cleaning and maintenance supplies and equipment. Opens work areas and secures on completion of work. Maintains necessary records relating to work performed and makes required reports. Distributes assignments to the custodial crew to ensure coverage of the daily needs of the County’s facilities. Checks subordinate custodial staff work to see that cleaning program is properly followed. (These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
AND ABILITIES
Rudimentary knowledge of maintenance requirements and use of cleaning and repair equipment. Some knowledge of routine type repairs is usually required in the operation of an indoor recreation facility. Good personality and the ability to maintain good relationships with associates, staff, and facility patrons. The ability and initiative to work effectively without close or continuous supervision. The ability to supervise subordinate personnel in custodial activities. The ability to lead a crew of custodial workers in a manner that will produce high morale and maximum performance.
