Job Description
Custodian Cox Science Center And Aquarium 4801 Dreher Trail North, West Palm Beach, FL 33405 The Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the science museum and aquarium facilities. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks in public areas, exhibits, restrooms, and behind-the-scenes spaces to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for visitors and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all areas of the museum and aquarium. Dust and wipe down surfaces, including exhibits, display cases, and furniture. Clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies. Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with environmental regulations. •
Exhibit Care:
Assist in the maintenance of exhibits, ensuring that they are clean and presentable. Report any damages or maintenance needs to the Facilities Manager.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to safety guidelines and training. •
Visitor Interaction:
Provide friendly and helpful service to visitors, answering any questions about the facilities. Assist in ensuring that public areas are tidy and welcoming.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other staff members and departments to ensure the smooth operation of the museum and aquarium. Participate in training sessions and meetings as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial or cleaning experience is a plus. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness. Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods. Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a variety of environments, including public spaces and behind-the-scenes areas. May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
