RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mill Cleaner is responsible for assisting in the general cleaning and maintenance of the east and west mill decks. This includes ensuring that all areas are debris-free and supporting mill operations through basic maintenance tasks. This role requires physical labor, attention to safety, and the ability to work in challenging conditions such as confined spaces and elevated areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Clean and maintain the east and west mill decks, removing cane material, debris, and trash. Support general upkeep of mill machinery as directed. Operate hand tools including shovels, rakes, brooms, and industrial water hoses. Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks in overhead, lying, or crawling positions. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Perform other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
: Mechanically inclined with basic maintenance knowledge. Ability to follow verbal instructions and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including heights and confined spaces. Team-oriented and able to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors. Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure. Bilingual and Biliterate – English and Spanish, preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
: High school diploma, GED (or equivalent experience), two (2) years’ experience, Basic level operator & industrial mechanical skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Regular attendance during scheduled shifts is required. Must be able to frequently lift and carry at least 60 pounds. Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy conditions. Must be able to work in overhead, kneeling, reaching, and crawling positions and in small workspaces.
