JOB SUMMARY
This position must be accountable to the Director of Custodial Services and shift lead/supervisor for maintaining a clean and healthy environment by keeping it sanitary and orderly using the methods specified in the training manual.

N/A ESSENTIAL DUTIES
– May include, but is not limited to the following: Operate and maintain various machines such as vacuums, floor machines, buffers, etc. Keep bathrooms stocked and cleaned daily. Clean/sanitize wash basins, mirrors, toilets, showers, etc. Keep all areas of building clean, organized, and promote a healthy environment to include but not limited to washing, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping. Empty trash containers and taking contents to centralized waste areas for permanent removal. Clean A/C filters weekly or as needed. Fill out work requests for any needed repairs to be turned, e.g. leaky faucets, stopped up toilets, or out of order washers/dryers etc. Work with various chemicals and follow all instructions for proper and safe use of chemicals. Chemical safety and use of chemicals will be included in the housekeeper’s on-board training. Use safety precautions in all housekeeping services. Perform additional work as deemed necessary by management. Be willing to work as a team player maintaining a friendly disposition at all times.

All remaining duties are considered “nonessential” within the context of the ADA, which means that the function could be reassigned to another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position. Required Education:
High school diploma or
GED Preferred Education:
Some college coursework preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS N/A EXPERIENCE
Required:
Stable job history in a commercial environment, preferably in custodial or janitorial services. Residential cleaning is acceptable.
Preferred:
1 year custodial experience preferred. Higher education and commercial cleaning experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required:
General housekeeping knowledge Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize tasks and follow directions. Ability to lift up to thirty (30) pounds and drive a golf cart. Must have a valid driver’s license and pass the MVR screening.

Physical Requirements:
This position demands good physical and mental aptitude. The custodian will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, and pull. He/she must be able to move continuously during work hours, including the use of stairs, and must be able to lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds. Also, must be able to work within dusty conditions.

8-4:30 pm (Monday- Friday) for 1st shift/4:30pm-1am (Monday-Friday) for 2nd shift
Note:
there are a few 1st shifts that do require an earlier schedule due the nature of the building assigned-see Director for details, if needed
TRAINING
All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated. Required compliance training is as follows: 90 days to learn details of job Six Months to perform all job related duties

SCREENING
All full-time positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the University’s insurance carrier in order to meet the requirements of the position.
