Staff Custodian

REPORTS TO
Senior Director of Operations GENERAL:

The Staff Custodian is knowledgeable in methods of cleaning. This position is part of the operations team that maintains operation of the 40,000sf world-class Florida Children’s Museum building in addition to 8,000sf of outdoor exhibit space. In addition to reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Staff Custodian also takes direction from the Facilities Technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Maintain building, exhibits and outdoor spaces in excellent condition by completing assigned cleaning tasks.
  • Assist Supervisor and Facilities Technicians with employing best methods of maintaining the cleanliness of facilities and exhibits, including making recommendations for improvements.
  • Observe and evaluate the condition of the facilities and exhibits in order to work with the Supervisor and Facilities Technicians to set priorities.
  • Maintain organization of custodial rooms, equipment and supplies.
  • Evaluate completeness of Vendor Custodial Services and communicate issues with management.
  • Work occasionally during non-business hours at the Museum as required, including weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to special events/fundraisers and outreach efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Good knowledge of cleaning tools and equipment
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Employment contingent on passing a Level 1 background check
  • Preferred but not required: o Bilingual, English and Spanish o General knowledge of tools
