Position Summary:
FAU Harbor Branch, located in Ft. Pierce, is a research institute focusing on marine science and oceanography with over 200 scientists, staff and students that work and study at the site. Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Custodian•1•Ft. Pierce, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Work independently wearing proper PPE to clean, sanitize and stock restrooms. Sanitize and clean toilets, urinals, sinks and counters, high touch areas, clean mirrors, and fixtures. Sweep and wash floors. Maintain and clean custodial equipment and storage areas. Empty trash and recycle containers and dispose of trash from offices and common areas. Keep containers clean and sanitized, refill liners. Dust and wipe windowsills, doors and common area surfaces. Handle cleaning chemicals safely. Service and clean student housing buildings. Maintain floors in designated areas, sweep and mop hard surface floors. Vacuum clean carpets, chairs and other seating surfaces. Operate floor scrubber and custodial equipment. Respond to and resolve spills and stains. Be available for after hour special events as needed. Wipe clean table and desk top surfaces and maintain inventory of custodial paper and cleaning supplies in designated areas. Perform light maintenance, painting and other tasks as designated. Maintain building entrance areas by washing windows, doors and entrance mats. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; or completion of 9th grade with at least one year of appropriate experience required. Valid Florida Driver License required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Ability to occasionally work outside of normal hours for special events. Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, staff and students.
