Custodian Savannah-Chatham County Schools – 3.4 Savannah, GA Job Details Part-time $20 – $22 an hour 2 days ago Qualifications English Custodial experience 1 year Entry level Full Job Description Coastal Empire Montessori Community Organization Environmental Services Part-Time Evening Custodian In collaboration with and under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Coordinator and the Director of Operations, the Part-Time Custodian supports high-quality academic instruction and ensures the school’s sustainability and operational integrity by assuming responsibility for a clean, safe and healthy environment campus wide. Roles and Responsibilities Perform the after-hours cleaning duties on campus daily, including but not limited to the following: Dusting and mopping all corridors; Emptying, cleaning and relining all interior and exterior trash cans; Vacuuming and spot-cleaning as needed all carpeted areas; Checking and clearing all ceilings and corners of cobwebs and dust; Cleaning, sanitizing and polishing all fixtures, including toilets, urinals and sinks; Cleaning and polishing all glass (interior and exterior) and mirrors; Checking and filling all soap and paper towel dispensers in all areas; and Checking and refilling hand sanitizing stations. Keep the janitorial storage area neat and clean; Properly log items used on the Inventory Supply Form; Notify the Environmental Services Coordinator if inventory is low on any janitorial items; Report any issues related to toilets/urinals, all dispensers, etc. to the Environmental Services Coordinator and/or Maintenance Technician; Keep the Maintenance Technician and the Director of Operations informed of any facility needs, changes and/or issues to address; Be responsible for a consistently high level of cleanliness and aesthetics of all school buildings and campus areas; Ongoingly and actively assess campus conditions in order to identify immediate sanitation needs and items to address as preventive maintenance; Ensure that work is performed in such a manner as to protect students, staff and the general public; Consistently model the approach “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”; Be willing to fill in for the Environmental Services Coordinator in the event that s/he is absent, including being flexible in work hours to accommodate those needs; and Handle any other duties assigned by the Environmental Services Coordinator and Director of Operations. Other Requirements Have at least one year of documented satisfactory experience with commercial custodial work; Possess knowledge of regulations and best practices pertaining to facility sanitation and safe storage and use of chemicals and cleaning supplies, and be proactive in researching additional information as needed; Maintain strict compliance with all appropriate and/or instructed safety protocols; Be willing and able to work in a variety of locations, including the outdoors, and a variety of conditions, including heat and inclement weather; Be able to lift and carry weights of up to 30 pounds; Able to reasonably communicate in English; Be cleared through a background check, including fingerprinting, drug screening and a Georgia Sex Offender Registry check; Be able to work with limited direction (i.e., “to think on your feet”) and take direction in a professional manner; Model being a Servant Leader and Team Player to the school community; Be comfortable working around children and serve as a role model adult; and Consistently demonstrate a strong work ethic and pride in a job well done. Work Schedule and Compensation Part-time; 16-18 hours per week, and available for emergencies after hours and/or other scheduled overtime; Typical schedule: 4:00 – 7:15 PM weekdays; Non-exempt hourly employee; Hourly wage: $20-22 per hour, commensurate with experience; and 190-day calendar.
